Default squeeze & learn..slight problem

I'm currently working on an interactive information design project called squeeze and learn. The interface is a plush soft toy, with a built in screen, most probably pocket pc on its belly. A child is supposed to squeeze the toys hands to trigger a flash presentation on the pocket pc. My problem is how to make myself a sensor that can somehow trigger the pocket pc.

Here's my idea so far : To use a camera release cable to 'keypress' a keyboard connected to the pocket pc. The keyboard does not necessarily have to be built in, just hidden somewhere.

Now my question: What should I use for the squeezing part, and somehow press down the camera release that will then press the keyboard? Or does anyone have a better idea to do this whole thing?

Thanks for your help

You could hard wire a metallic pushbutton to the pocket pc. I don't know the technical term - but like calculator buttons.
