Shingle Exposure question - DIY Chatroom

In general, if you expose a little more of the shingle than you are probably supposed to, but you still cover all the nails from the previous course, will the roof be OK? Besides it maybe not looking as normal as it should.

If you mean a row or 2 to take up some mistake, then I guess I gotta admit I've done that when necessary. If you mean the whole roof then I second what Aaron said.

I guess I would say 'How high up are you nailing?' if you're still able to cover the nails and expose too much shingle?

I will say that I have had to 'adjust' a course or two but I'm only talking a 1/4" or so.
